It is located on the Children’s at Egleston campus. Based on our volumes, the Center has the one of the largest pediatric heart transplant facilities in the United States.

Fisher cardiac intensive care unit (CICU) staffed by nurses, respiratory therapists and physician assistants specially trained in the care of children with congenital and acquired heart disease. Offer leading-edge expertise in cardiac transplantation, including heart-lung transplantation. Have performed more than 155 heart transplants. Offer lifesaving and breakthrough alternatives for heart transplant candidates including a biventricular assist device, heterotopic "piggyback" heart transplants and biventricular pacing therapy. We have a dedicated cardiac intensive care unit, cardiac catheterization labs, cardiac ECMO, a fully equipped procedures room and an array of high-tech tools to diagnose and treat heart problems. Completed more than 1,500 cardiac catheterization cases in 2003, making us one of the busiest pediatric cath labs in the nation. We offer 24-hour easy access to information and care through our Cardiac Call Center - "Cardiac Connection."
Cardiology consultation is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide comprehensive care for patients requiring cardiovascular surgery or medical intervention. The cardiology service works closely with cardiovascular thoracic surgeons and pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists. Specialized cardiothoracic nurses provide comprehensive care and education for patients and parents. Social workers, respiratory therapists, chaplains and child life specialists are also available to assist families.
